Let me introduce myself.
My name is David Lanzrein, and I was born on October 29, 2001. I am half Swiss and half Thai, and I grew up between two cultures that have shaped the way I see the world.
I created this blog with the goal of helping, inspiring, and perhaps even encouraging new ways of thinking in those who read it. Through davesyndrom.com, I want to share some of the formative experiences, challenges, thoughts, and lessons that have shaped my life so far.
In my free time, I enjoy going to the gym, spending time with friends, reading, and travelling. I have always been curious about people, life, and the different ways we experience the world, which is one of the reasons I decided to create this space.
My professional journey has taken a few unexpected turns. I originally started an apprenticeship as a healthcare professional, but had to discontinue it in 2020 as my mental health began to deteriorate. Although leaving my apprenticeship was difficult at the time, it ultimately became one of many experiences that shaped the person I am today.
Afterwards, I decided to take a different path and completed an apprenticeship as a commercial employee, known as Kaufmann EFZ or KV in Switzerland. Following my apprenticeship, I worked in a hospital emergency department, where I gained valuable experience working with patients, medical professionals, and people in difficult situations.
My journey did not stop there. I later gained experience working as a prison officer and as a security officer at a federal asylum centre. Each of these environments was very different, but all of them taught me something about people, society, responsibility, and—perhaps most importantly—about myself.
I don’t consider my journey to be a straight line, and I don’t think it needs to be. Life rarely follows the path we imagine for ourselves.
