Anxiety, Panic attacks

Ah sh*t, here we go again…

Heavy sweating, heart racing, blurry visions, over stimulation, the feeling you’re going insane and and and.

If you ever felt a panic attack or general social anxiety before, I think you’ll agree, that that’s one of the worst feelings you could ever experience during your lifetime, especially then, when you were an open, socialized person before.

I remember having my first panic attack and I didn’t knew what was going on. While I was sitting class, the teacher had shown us a short clip about the anatomy of the human body. Everything in my body and my mind started going insane; my heart was beating really, really fast, my body started sweating heavily, my visions got very gray and blur and everything felt like too much. I had the feeling everybody was staring at me and I felt like I was a little tipsy, nothing was clear at all. – So I left the class immediately…

After all, I knew it wasn’t my body that was screaming for help, it was my mind, my mental situation and the environment I was in. I knew something was wrong and something needed to change…

It all began at the same time, I was about 16years old at this time and I remember falling and falling into my own thoughts, into my own mind. I was deeply in a self-discovery phase, all the bad things from my past came up, i had the need to figure everything out, what I couldn’t understand as a child. – Little fact; 20% of Society will suffer a panic attack once in their lifetime and 1-5% will suffer from a disorder. (There is a big chance that there is someone in your family or friendship that suffers from it)

Unfortunately things got worse, I wasn’t one of them that had it one time, and it went by. I developed a disorder. So I had them like 5-8x/day. I couldn’t go to work, school, take the train or bus anymore. Everything was just too much, I avoided crowded places as much as I could… And I started to have a huge lack in my self confidence.

So I started healing, it’s a long process, but still a good and interesting one. Trying to fix something as fast as possible isn’t the right way to go, you really need to go deeply inside yourself, your conscious and your subconscious, so you can understand what the issues are/were that triggered a panic attack. – You’ll need to find the source of your suffer, after finding and understanding it, you can start to rebuild yourself.

It’s very common, that people will try their best to hide their anxiety, we still live in a society where topics like this can’t be discussed openly and people tend to misunderstand or judge it without having any knowledge about it. What really helped me was talking about it, not to everyone but to the ones I knew they wouldn’t judge me for that, and surprisingly I started to recognize that I wasn’t the only one, even from those that I never thought they had experienced something like that, because of their extremely high self-confidence.

I could write pages about this topic, but I’ll leave it from here. What should you take from this post?

  • A.) If you suffer from anxiety:
  • –     If you suffer anxiety, you’re not the only one.
  • – It’s treatable
  • – Try to find the source of it, try to find the root of your sufferings.
  • – Facing it, always facing it. – Avoiding crowded places might seem right at the first time, but facing it and being aware that it is       an ANXIETY attack you’ll train your mind to stay calm in socializing situation.
  • –    Don’t give yourself up!
  • B.) If you don’t suffer from anxiety:
  • –   Educate yourself
  • –  Don’t be a scumbag and judge people by their behavior
  • – Don’t stare at them
  • – They aren’t sick, they’re just “different” – being different is “normal” 😉

PS: I’ll make another blog, how I dealt with it and how I overcame my anxiety.

Cheers
